  • Clicking on quests brings up the real quest log with that quest selected.
  • Displays the quest level in the quest title.
  • Elite quests display a ' ' in the level of the quest.
  • Completed quests show a '(Completed)' in the quest title.
  • Quest area headers are displayed.

  • Check boxes next to quests allow hiding/showing of that quest.
  • Check box to toggle displaying collapsed quest area headers and hidden quests.
  • Close and minimize buttons.
  • Quest objective coloring.
  • Quest objective coloring for special 'friendly/hostile' type objectives.

  • Font size setting.
  • Option to turn off right-click to open MonkeyBuddy.
  • Option to hide the title buttons.

(** Currently doesn't update if MonkeyQuest is closed or minimized **)

  • Dungeon quests display a 'd' in the level of the quest.
  • Raid quests display an 'r' in the level of the quest.
  • Party members show up in the quest overview tooltip. If they have that quest they'll be displayed in the 100% objective color.

    Good morning,

I have installed Money Quest, Monkey Clock, Monkey Speed, and Monkey Buddy today and so far neither Clock nor Speed are showing and I am having a problem dragging the Monkey Quest panel. What is happening is that it flickers to the location I am trying to move it to and then flickers back to the default location and stays there. I have checked and the option to lock the frame has not been selected. Also none ofthe check boxes in Monkey Quest function. Any suggestions?

Is there a way to sort the quests via level, instead of area? I am currently using QuestIon, which allows me to sort the quests via level, and it's pretty much the one thing keeping me from switching to MQ. Also, if there were a way to show the area on the line with the quest name, that would be nice, too.

Anyone else getting weird grey boxes behind quest objectives?

You have quest zone highlighting enabled. You can change the color with MonkeyBuddy.

Hi there, I have just a small question. I am still using MQ3 Alpha (which still works for me), this has been for two reasons, first one, I loved the "work complete" feature, and it's great that MQ2 supports that feature too since 2.7. However, the more important feature of MQ3 is the fixed size of the MQ-Window and the Scroll-Bar to use if there are more Quests than the window can display. I love the setup-possibilities that MQ2 offers, but without a fixed size it doesn't really fit in my interface. So back to my short question, hehe, do you think there will ever be a MQ2 version supporting a scroll bar and fixed size?

Just for the sake of visual appeal, could you add in the option to show/hide the check mark boxes next to the quests? ie Hide them when not showing hidden items and show them when showing hidden items. That'd be sweet :D Thanks!

Hm, I've noticed that in this new version the quest box wants to show all the objectives unless completed along with the quest title. In previous versions those objectives only came up if you were working on the quest. Is there a way to hide the objectives other than if they are completed? I know that you can de-select the quest and it'll hide the quest, but the quest title showing is fine, I would just prefer only to see the objectives if I am currently working on it.

    Any help?

I think you are referring to Blizzard's ingame Quest Tracker.
There was no change made concerning displaying quest objectives.

Anyone know how to change the font for the quest log? I'm trying to make it match my UI :D

    EDIT: Figured it out thanks!

one thing i noticed is that you have MonkeyQuest in the Interface menu however it keeps saying to install MonkeyBuddy to configure and MB 2.8 is already installed.

  • April 19, 2008, 09:27PM (2 months, 2 weeks ago)

Can't replicate. Do you have the MonkeyBuddy Interface menu and the MonkeyQuest Interface menu, or just the MonkeyQuest one? Since the MonkeyQuest menu is only a reminder to install MonkeyBuddy, it's normally hidden if MonkeyBuddy is loaded. Maybe your computer is too slow and doesn't load MonkeyBuddy fast enough, or you use some kind of AddOn Manager which loads MonkeyBuddy after MonkeyQuest, however - I can't replicate it. Try to remove every MonkeyMods related file and install it new, maybe you can find out the exact problem for me.

ok im not sure were talking about the same interface menus here. When I hit ESC click on Interface then click on the Addons tab there is a section there for MonkeyQuest. When i click on that option it says MonkeyQuest v2.8 Please install MonkeyBuddy to configure MonkeyQuest easily. Then under that it has a gear icon and says MonkeyBuddy is currently not installed. However I have put in both the 2.8 updated MQ and MB. I always delete the old folders and copy in the 3 MQ folders and 1 MB folder to addons folder.

I have tested by turning off all other mods except MQ and it still does it so its not a mod confliction. I have deleted the LUA files for MQ and MB and still does it. It also does it on my kids and wifes computers as well. As for my computer I have a M1710 dual core, 2 gigs ram, 7950gtx card so thats not an issue. I do not use any addon managers.

Maybe you can help with a bug I found. RezzTextMonitor seems to lock Monkeyquest in place but has no other impact on the 100 or so mods I use. Any chance this could be an easy fix short of killing RezzText? Please I love both mods.

Remove line 57 in your MonkeyQuest.lua - Should work for you.

    Hey Jim-Bim

Just thought you'd like to see that Eurogamer website has recommended your mod in it's article about WoW :-)

    http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=133066&page=2

"WOW's quest log is fine, and the automatic quest-tracking is decent, but there's still no substitute for a good third-party add-on quest-tracker. We're partial to MonkeyQuest, ourselves. Basic quest descriptions in tooltips; colours indicating how close to completion you are; the actual levels of the quests themselves; a smart, fast interface; at-a-glance indication of which quests are relevant to your current location; and best and simplest of all, an indication of how many of your quest log slots are full - none of these features are in the game's default interface, and all of them are indispensable to painless questing."

    Good job!

My favourite quest mod! Bind a key to minimize/restore and hide/unhide.

    Thanks for the new version!

When I link a quest, it comes out as [level] [link]

Can I link *just* the quest? When I link it for other people, they're often confused by that number. I remember once I linked a group quest and it said 40g, and people thought I was going to pay them 40g if they helped me...

  • April 17, 2008, 07:04AM (2 months, 2 weeks ago)

You have to modify your MonkeyQuest.lua in your MonkeyQuest folder. After line 1175 change the content in the brackets to (strQuestLink .. " "). This will remove the [level] tag completely, of course you have to modify the following ten lines containing this structure, too. If you like the QuestLevel, you can just remove the QuestTag relevant shortcuts and things like g,d,p etc. won't be printed anymore.

Thanks! I'll do this, but if you could put it is an option in the next version, that'd rock too, so I don't have to keep doing this every version. ^_^ It can wait until next release, though.
